FIU-the Netherlands and its partners are constantly working to improve the digital security of our systems. Most of this work takes place behind the scenes. As a user, you will notice little to nothing of this. To ensure we remain sufficiently digitally resilient in the future, we are now taking a step that you, as a user, will notice.
From Wednesday, September 16, through Sunday, September 20, we will be performing a major system upgrade that includes the reporting portal. This means that you will not be able to report any unusual transactions on these days. We will notify you as soon as the upgrade is complete.
Make sure your reports are completed
Please, fully complete, submit, and close all pending reports by 4:00 p.m. Central European Time on September 16, 2026. During the upgrade, the form and the processing system will be unavailable, so pending requests cannot be finalized. By closing everything in a timely manner, you will prevent any loss of data from your report.
No changes to the content
In addition to the digital security improvements being implemented behind the scenes, the form will have a noticeably improved look and feel. The structure and content will remain the same, but the overall design will be more modern, clearer, and better aligned with the new legislation that takes effect on July 10, 2027. Each question will now include clear information blocks to guide you step by step through the form. A new user guide will also be available to assist you.
XML files remain the same
The content of the XML files does not need to be modified for this upgrade. You can continue to submit the files as you normally do.
In the period leading up to the new legislation taking effect on July 10, 2027, substantive changes will eventually be implemented in the requirements for XML files. As soon as these specifications are finalized, we will inform you in a timely manner.
FAQ – upgrade reporting portal

To ensure we remain sufficiently resilient digitally in the future, we are now taking this step and carrying out a major system upgrade on the reporting portal. The new version of the reporting portal is also a first step for us toward complying with the new European AML legislation, which takes effect in July 2027.
Starting Monday, September 21, you will be able to submit your reports through the reporting portal again in the manner you are accustomed to. You will receive a message from FIU-the Netherlands once the upgrade is complete and everything is up and running again.
During the upgrade of the reporting portal, the form and the processing system will be unavailable. Pending submissions cannot be finalized. We recommend that you complete everything by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16. This will prevent any data from being lost, which you might otherwise have to re-enter later.
Digital security improvements are being implemented, but you won’t notice any changes. The structure and content of the form will also remain the same. However, the form will have an improved design and a more modern look. Next to each question, you’ll now find clear information boxes that guide you step by step through the form.
After the upgrade, a new user guide for the updated reporting form will be available.
Yes, you can fill out the reporting form on the website at the time the upgrade takes place. You can download the XML file and save it to your local environment. However, you cannot yet upload the XML file to the reporting portal. You must save it until after the system upgrade and upload it once the upgrade is complete.
Yes, the content of the XML files will not be modified for this upgrade. You can continue to submit the files in the format you are accustomed to.
No, there are currently no changes to your reporting form. You can therefore continue to fill out the form as usual and continue to use the existing manuals.
There are no consequences associated with this. The supervisory authorities have also been informed about the upgrade. They are therefore aware that no reports can be submitted between 4:00 p.m. on September 16 and September 20.
