Lisette Heerze appointed acting head of FIU The Netherlands
As of February 1, Lisette Heerze has been appointed acting head of FIU-Netherlands for an indefinite period. This temporary appointment ensures that the leadership of the FIU will continue without interruption now that the current head, Hennie Verbeek-Kusters, is taking up a position elsewhere.
After obtaining her master’s degrees in European Studies and European Politics & Public Administration, Lisette Heerze began her career at the European Parliament, after which she moved to ABN AMRO. Lisette worked for several years in the telecom sector in London, after which she spent ten years at the AIVD, including as head of an operational team and the foreign relations department. In 2013, she moved to Shell as cluster security manager. From there, she began her career with the police. First as head of the International Cooperation Department, then as deputy head of Operations in Amsterdam, after which she took on the Financial and Economic Crime portfolio, amongst other things.
Extensive experience
With her extensive background in international cooperation, organisational development and experience with European politics and decision-making in Brussels, Lisette has the right background for this transition phase. In her new role, Lisette will focus on the implementation of the European AML package and its impact on FIU-Netherlands. She also aims to strengthen cooperation with chain partners and further develop relationships with the public and private sectors, both nationally and internationally.
Well positioned
“We are delighted to welcome Lisette Heerze as acting head,” said the management team of FIU-Netherlands. “Lisette brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and is well positioned to lead the organisation through this transition phase. We have every confidence in her abilities and look forward to working with her.”
Crucial role
Lisette: “I am really looking forward to starting at the FIU. I feel right at home in a dynamic and ambitious environment where different interests converge. I will certainly find that challenge at FIU-Netherlands. This position brings everything together: intelligence, investigation, international work, and both public and private cooperation. The FIU plays a crucial role in the anti-money laundering network. As a strong advocate of a system-oriented approach, I am very enthusiastic about joining the FIU, which I believe plays a pivotal role. In my previous position as portfolio holder for Financial and Economic Crime, I already had an insight into the challenges facing FIU-Netherlands, and I look forward to leading it temporarily.”
